Composing music for music libraries, here at Atrium Music Group
Music library composer Scott Ryan
Name: Scott Ryan
Website:   http://www.myspace.com/scottryan

Born and bred in the northwest, Scott Ryan spent his early years in eastern Washington before moving to Salem, Oregon in 1996. Surrounded by a musical family, Scott Ryan learned to sing by performing with his father, a minor musical celebrity in the northwest, and made music with his siblings from an early age. After picking up a guitar and playing in several bands around the Salem music scene for a few years, he moved to southern California to attend college and began to write and record songs as a solo artist. Once rooted in Los Angeles, Scott was approached to score the acclaimed short film, "Punky" and soon after, he recorded and independently circulated his first single, "Buried." The full-length, indie debut, "The Coldest Room in the House," was released in April of 2008, and a short tour of the west coast followed in June.

Over the last several years, Scott Ryan has journeyed into new territories, sharing the stage with acts like Gosling, Josh Ritter and the Helio Sequence while exploring new musical ideas and directions. With his newest release, the "Tree Man EP," Scott Ryan is on the brink of an artistic breakthrough for singer/songwriters everywhere. Littered with moments of transcendence both quiet and bombastic, Scott Ryan merges tradition and inventiveness on “Tree Man,” which delves into some dense and very disparate sonic territory. Themes of alienation, narcissism, and loss are pervasive, but the songs hold on to an underlying sense of hope like the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.

With a sophisticated and literate lyrical style, and eclectic influences ranging from Johnny Cash to the Talking Heads, Scott Ryan's songs continue to embody the evolution of inspiration through the universal language of music. ~Bio by Shannon Taylor & Jordan Elliot

Name: Christopher Getman
Website:   http://www.mazedudemusic.com

Christopher Getman has been involved in music since childhood. From his early days he took up playing trombone like his Father, however unlike him then took up composing from the day he learned how to read and write music.

His work has been featured in film, television, various web projects, and he is a featured remixer of video game music on Overclocked Remix (www.ocremix.org). In fact, one of his remixes was featured in the recent PS3 release "Super Street Fighter 2 HD Remix." His famed "American Album" was the first remix project to tribute American video game composers exclusively. He is also the sole composer of the Capoeira/electronic fusion featured on Capoeira Nation, and has a few of his Capoeira fusion mixes available here on Atrium as well.

Mikey Sabatella, singer/ songwriter featured in the Atrium music library
Name: Mikey Sabatella
Website:   http://mikeysabatella.bandcamp.com

Mikey Sabatella is a Singer/Songwriter from Pasadena, Ca whose style is heavily influenced by music from artists such as Eddie Vedder, Ben Harper, Link Wray and Andrew Bird. Mikey has taken a new approach to his debut record 'A Life in the Day' by writing it based on an "instinctual approach"; strumming chords, writing lyrics, formulating each song with a one take mentality and creating a very honest sound. Mikey is no stranger to traveling, touring, and writing records. He has been playing and recording music for over 13 years and has toured across the country and parts of Japan.

"Out of all of the experiences I've had, I take three things with me whenever I write: connection, family, and friends."

All beliefs he has touched on many times in his new music.

Film and TV music composers in our music library

This is just the beginning; are you a composer interested in submitting music to our music library? We welcome your work; visit our Submit Music page to see how. In time it could be you here listed as a featured composer of our music library. We're looking for all styles, all genres, and are open whether or not you're a seasoned film and television composer, or a young professional composer straight out of college.

Composing for music libraries is an art form all its own; it takes talent to write music for film that can instantly establish some sought-after cues as "building tension", "chase scene", "love scene", and so on, even more so when considering the vast variety of film and TV genres that need specific music library cues to match those genres. Music library composers understand this and capitalize on that by composer film scores and television music with the audience expectations in mind. If orchestral is in demand, the composer will write film orchestral music 100%. No weird fusion, no experimental avant-garde tracks, just what's needed to nail the theme for maximum placement potential.
